Mission

We achieve our vision giving shelter and target-oriented education. Omed focuses on basic education and vocational training for particularly disadvantaged girls. We see this as an effective approach to enable long term success. Educated women are more likely to improve the economic well-being of their families and communities and would invest in their children’s education and health, leading to intergenerational benefits that can break the cycle of poverty. Omed provides tools and vocational training for young girls in orphanages e.g., in various crafts to create the basis for their economic independence, entrepreneurship opportunities leading to social integration and helping equalize women in society.

The Omed approach recognizes the promotion of women’s health for their full social participation. We support groups, in particular girls, who are in children’s homes, orphanages, „on the streets” or exiles. Components of such a mission in mostly fragile contexts encompass health, basic education, skills training in crafts, promotion of entrepreneurial skills, debt cuts, networking with other women and access to relevant information.
